About the candidate:
We invite applications from pupils who are:
- Completing, or have already completed, pupillage at other leading criminal sets
- From other fields who can show an interest in pursuing a career in criminal law
We aim to recruit articulate and confident candidates, regardless of their background, who can demonstrate drive and determination and who are committed to a future at the Criminal Bar. We look for applicants who can balance intellectual excellence with common sense and pragmatism.
Recruitment is taken very seriously and every pupil and probationary tenant is selected on the basis that they are a potential tenant - if you achieve that potential, you will be taken on as a member of chambers at the end of your six months (or 12 months if an extension is regarded as being mutually beneficial).
If you are recruited as a probationary tenant you can expect to quickly develop a busy and interesting practice in both the Crown and magistrates' courts. You will be assigned a supportive mentor from our pool of experienced pupil supervisors.
